Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA) President, Kikelomo Adeniyi, is prioritizing worldwide collaboration to achieve a lasting future, announcing strategic initiatives like pursuing investment prospects in Brazil and forming a learning hub for COWA members. This global approach aligns with Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi’s new role as Chairman of the World Customs Organization (WCO) council. Mrs. Adeniyi stressed COWA’s dedication to member growth and contribution to the country’s progress.
Speaking at a COWA empowerment event organized by the Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘A’, Adeniyi highlighted the significance of empowering women, noting its positive impact on the nation. She urged customs officers’ wives to support their spouses in fulfilling their responsibilities and to prioritize their well-being through regular health checks.
COWA’s President, said, “The alignment with the First Lady’s renewed hope agenda, shifting focus towards sustainable initiatives like green programs and recycling, moving beyond traditional donations. This new strategy aims to provide members with valuable skills for small businesses and various training opportunities.And my continued support for members and dedication to national growth.”
Adeniyi added, “The need for COWA to expand beyond national borders and establish international partnerships, particularly with Brazil, to explore investment opportunities and set up a learning center. This aims to create a strong and sustainable future for members. COWA is committed to a better future and economic advancement.”
In his remarks, the Unit Controller, Compt Muhammed Shuaibu, encouraged COWA members to utilize resources wisely, seeing themselves as partners in national advancement. He assured the unit’s commitment to expanding the COWA program to better support families. Adeniyi commended the Area Controller for his support.
Compt Shuaibu, asserted, “The empowerment program aims to tackle economic and social difficulties faced by officers’ wives by providing skills and aiding small businesses. The institution’s strength relies on the dedication of its members and the support of their families.

Adeniyi reaffirmed that COWA will continue to assist its members and contribute to national progress.
The event culminated in the distribution of sewing machines, washing machines, catering equipment, and funds to COWA members, widows, and retirees, demonstrating the association’s commitment to enhancing their capabilities and support.
The COWA empowerment program highlights the association’s commitment to empowering women and aiding national advancement. As COWA evolves and broadens its reach, it remains a symbol of hope and empowerment for its members and the larger community.
