CUSTOMS BOSS @59? GIANT STRIDES AND MONUMENTAL IMPACTS ABOUND…. As PresidentTinubu Extols Him

Since June 2023 when Adewale Adeniyi assumed office as the Comptroller General of Customs, Nigeria Customs Service nationwide has witnessed giant strides and monumental impacts in all facets of the Service.

Recall on assumption of office several critics and envious personalities have worked negatively hard to disparage his competency, Capabilities, resourcefulness and intellectual acumen to take the Service to an enviable heights in accordance with international standards and global best practices; thus, all proved wrong. For your information, the Adeniyi led stewardship has achieved a land breaking records which most former Customs boss couldn’t achieve in seven years.

In the same vein, rumour mongers at a time  allegedly peddled that his due for retirement sequel to his age  status and lopsided promotion exercises, however, these unfounded, baseless and misleading fallacy and excluded content of merit and truth failed on arrival.

Adewale Adeniyi, on board MV NG Customs 001, is a welcome development and opt in revenue generation, human capacity development, innovative ideas, seamless operations and robust synergies with all critical stakeholders.

Adeniyi, has worked in most departments of Nigeria Customs Service, with prudence, transparency and good conduct for peaceful coexistence with and among all officers and men in the service. Sequel to his unalloyed commitment, unwavering zeal and highest patriotism the Customs boss has performed creditable well to the admiration of Nigerians and international community.

In view of the backdrop, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has, on Saturday, 18 January 2025, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, on the occasion of his 59th birthday celebration precisely on January 19, 2025.

This information was contained in a statement issued and signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy) and made available to GLOBAL RAYS Media.

The statement reads in part:  “President Tinubu commended the transformative leadership of CGC Adeniyi since his appointment as the 14th Comptroller-General of Customs in June 2023.”

It added,  “The President lauded CGC Adeniyi’s contributions to advancing the Customs Service, highlighting his role in driving the digitalisation and automation of operations.”

The President words:   “This progress, coupled with a renewed focus on professionalism and boosting officers’ morale, has resulted in enhanced performance within the agency.”

He asserted,  “Under CGC Adeniyi’s stewardship, the Service has achieved unprecedented revenue surpluses, improved trade facilitation, and introduced innovative anti-smuggling strategies.”

However, the President added, “These efforts include empowering the youth with alternative livelihood skills, engaging with traditional institutions, and fostering effective communication and mutual respect within and beyond the service.”

President Tinubu also acknowledged the remarkable seizures of arms and ammunition under CGC Adeniyi’s leadership and the successful revival of the Comptroller-General of Customs’ Annual Conference, a platform to evaluate and strengthen Customs operations.

The President further recognised CGC Adeniyi’s over 30 years of remarkable service and his adaptability, which, according to him, brought immense value to the agency.

In addition, President Tinubu prayed for divine wisdom, good health, and continued strength for the Comptroller-General of Customs as he contributed to national development.
