The Customs Area Controller, CAC, Port Harcourt Area 1, Port Harcourt, , Compt. Auwal Mohammed, has said, ” Due Process in Cargo documentation and clearance at the area Command is needful and compulsory for all with a view to achieve seamless operations.”
The Customs area controller disclosed this information at a media parley in Port Harcourt.
The CAC asserted he inherited a stable area command which makes the job easier, however , concluded plans are on ground to further stabilize the command to generate more revenue with a view to strengthen trade facilitation.
The reaffirmed the urgent need to adhere strictly to Due Process compliance. His words: ” 100 Per cent Examination of cargos must be adhere strictly aimed to fast track delivery on time.”
Compt. Mohammed posited, ” Since my assumption; I have created a robust working relationships with critical stakeholders; officers and men morale are raised on due process and fiscal policies compliance.”
Adding, ” Where there’s discrepancy or improper declarations we issue a Demand Notice,DN, to reconcile duty payment.”
The CAC warned that no consignment or container will be examined prior to duty payment and false declaration of items ,the importer or Agent will have his or her items delayed until proper documentation is done.
His Words: ” We want to apply seamless process in cargo documentation and clearance.”
However, he asserted that the revenue target for the command is 83.1 Billion for the year 2020, adding, that machineries are in place to achieve Ease of Doing Business in line with the federal government policy on imports and exports.
