The President of Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA ) Dr Bashir Jamoh, has said, ” The Chartered Institute of Transport Administration in Nigeria will hold it’s first national summit slated for 2nd of December 2019 in Abuja.”
He disclosed this information in an exclusive chat with GLOBAL RAYS Media in Lagos .
He asserted ,” The Institute in line with extant Laws as enshrined in the ACT have already developed a blueprint aimed to achieve a holistic and all inclusive national transport summit capable to reposition, re-engineer and boost investments and patronage in the transport sector with it’s multiplier effects on improved socio economic development of the Nigerian economy. ”
Adding, ” All Practitioners and stakeholders in the transport sector in Nigeria and abroad would be participants at the summit to look at the enormous challenges militating against the smooth development of the Nigerian transport sector with a view to finding lasting solutions.”
His Words : ” We will also develop a blueprint on how and efficient ways the intermodal transport system can be effectively and efficiently utilized in accordance with standards and best practices. ”
He Continued ” At the end of the summit CIOTA intends to issue a communique and bring to the notice of government the effective and efficient ways of implementation .”
The Institute is endowed with team of intellectuals ably and capable to drive home the efforts and objectives aimed to achieve results in compliance with the Law that established CIOTA.
Reacting on the issue of near non implementation of recommendations on summit, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, stated, ” Most of the members of this institute are representatives of various Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government and I assure you as they are part of the workable plan personnel involved at the outcome of the recommendations of the summit are oblige and duty bound to ensure that adequate compliance and implementation of the agreed recommendations are achieved in their area of the transport sector .”
He reaffirmed ,” Remember we have the land, rail, sea and air transport so all these areas will be adequately and professionally taken care of aimed to achieve a viable and virile transport system.”
In addition, Jamoh submitted, ” We are going to inaugurate a monitoring committee as a mechanism aimed to monitor and ascertain compliance on implementation and feedback reports on assessment and evaluation in various areas of the transport sector to ensure all laudable ideas and policies chunked out at the summit are sequential implemented and achieved in the interest and development of Nigerian economy .”
Finally, ” As a Professional body we won’t talk without action and all hands are on deck as our team of Professors are working out plans aimed to achieve CIOTA aims and objectives at the forthcoming national summit. “
