DCG , Dera Nnadi mni, is a good man,! my friend and benefactor. He believes so much in my ability, capacity and integrity to do some things,which he ordinary will doubt the capacity and controversial nature ascribed to the Maritime Journalism.
Sir, though in our country people often equate relationships to monetary gains, but ours was not so, but u often encourage and stubbornly urged me to make the difference, even when monetary rewards are not attached.
I remember u tested me by telling me to create a media team for u as ” Media Friends of Dera Nnadi”, it wasn’t for monetary rewards, but for bonding and intellectual brainstorming. You also after various setbacks and doubts, entrusted in me, to initiate, plan and execute the first Maritime Journalists training workshop in the history of the sector then as Customs Area Controller, Tin Can Island Port Command . That training with the approval of the CGC Adewale Adeniyi in 2024 was a turning point where Maritime Journalists were equipped with working tools like iPads and bags etc.
Glad to tell you, your successor, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, has carried out same and even improved on it. That is the stuff you were made of.
Though, some may see u in different light, but for me the little you did to lift my profile and
Maritime journalism left indilible marks in my heart and I remain ever grateful to you.
I wish you a fruitful and enjoyable life in retirement. I still remain your younger brother and friend.
