B’ ODOGWU PLATFORM DRIVES REVENUE SURGE AT CUSTOMS TIN CAN AREA COMMAND…. As DC Ofoegbu Lauds The CAC and CGC Adeniyi’s Innovative Reforms

Deputy Comptroller Ifeanyi Ofoegbu has lauded the transformative impact of the B’Odogwu revenue platform, describing it as a “game changer” that has significantly boosted revenue generation, particularly at the Tin Can Island Port.

He also congratulated the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on his recent conferment of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree, commending his leadership and commitment to innovation.

Speaking on recent revenue performance, DC Ifeanyi Ofoegbu highlighted the Customs Service’s steady progress toward its ambitious annual target of ₦1.5 trillion.

He asserted,  “ B ‘Odogwu is known as the game changer, and since its introduction, there has been a tremendous increase in revenue generation, particularly at the Tin Can port and Our revenue target for the year is 1.5 trillion, and we’re getting closer to that mark, by the special grace of God. Our aim is to surpass that target, and with the cooperation of all units, particularly the CAC, we’re confident of achieving this goal.”

Ofoegbu attributed the success to internal reforms and modernization efforts spearheaded by the Customs Area Controller (CAC), which have enhanced operational efficiency and trade facilitation.

He reiterated that,  “The CAC has implemented internal reforms, especially with regards to multiple trade facilitation, and has introduced modernity measures to ensure goods leave the port within 24 hours. We’ve also been running weekend activities, which have been successful, and our officers are now accustomed to working on Saturdays and sometimes on Sundays.”

He emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive outlook amid challenges, stating that determination and teamwork have been central to the command’s achievements.

DC Ofoegbu, posited,   “When you focus on the negative, you’re likely to fail. But if you’re determined to succeed, you’ll look at challenges as opportunities. We’re determined to succeed, and I’m confident we’ll surpass our target. ”

He credited the “Odogwu” platform for its crucial role in the command’s performance, describing it as responsible for 70 to 80 percent of the recent revenue surge.

His words:  “The importance of Odogwu cannot be overstated. I’d give it 80-90%. It’s a new platform, and its impact is still unfolding. Initially, there were challenges, but people are now getting used to it.”

According to Ofoegbu, the command recently surpassed its monthly revenue target, recording an impressive ₦154 billion above projection, positioning it to exceed the annual goal well before the year’s end.

In a related development, DC Ofoegbu extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on his PhD award from the Federal University of Lokoja, describing the achievement as a reflection of his dedication and excellence.

He stated, “First and foremost, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, DSM, on the conferment of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree by the Federal University of Lokoja. This achievement is a testament to his dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence. ”

Adding, “As someone who has had the privilege of working with Dr. Adeniyi, I can attest to his exceptional leadership qualities and sportsmanship. His achievements are a reflection of his character and dedication to public service.”

Ofoegbu expressed optimism that under Dr. Adeniyi’s leadership, the Nigeria Customs Service would continue to break new frontiers in efficiency, transparency, and national revenue generation.
