Committed to the adherence and enforcement of the fiscal policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs hinged on Consolidation, Collaboration and Innovation aimed to boost revenue generation, suppress smuggling activities and create robust trade facilitation, the Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced impressive revenue figures, recording over N1.5 billion between May and July 2025.
This information was disclosed by the Customs Area Controller, CAC, Compt. Ben Oramalugo Phd, during a chat with newsmen at SEME.
Comptroller Ben Oramalugo, PhD, said, the command has continued to intensified border patrol and surveillance efforts that yielded significant results.
Compt Ben Oramalugo, asserted, “Anti-smuggling operations have also been successful, with seizures worth over N1.2 billion in Duty Paid Value (DPV) made between May and July 2025. This success is attributed to credible intelligence and coordinated enforcement strategies.”
The CAC, added, “The N1.5 billion revenue recorded by the Command is a testament to the command’s commitment to enforcing customs regulations. The revenue collection figure is expected to boost the country’s economic growth.”
Speaking further, he posited, “The seizures worth over N1.2 billion in DPV are a significant blow to smuggling activities in the region. The seizures include various goods, demonstrating the command’s efforts to curb illicit trade.”
His words: “As the command continued to intensified border patrol and surveillance efforts; have been instrumental in the command’s success as it intercepted 5 truck laden with over 4,019 5kg of smuggled rice.”

Adding, “This is the highest seizure since my assumption of office
and the command’s operatives have been working tirelessly to prevent smuggling activities and enforce customs regulations.”
However, Comptroller Oramalugo credited the command’s success to credible intelligence and coordinated enforcement and the command’s ability to gather and act on intelligence has been crucial in making significant seizures.
