In a bid to achieve his mandate in accordance with the renewed hope agenda, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has said, “The importance of building a mutual beneficial partnerships with the media cannot be overemphasized.”
The DG made this known during an interactive session with maritime media professionals in Lagos.

Dr. Mobereola added, “The significance of media relationships, acknowledging journalists’ influence on public perception and agency accountability is needful.” Adding, “The need for data and knowledge sharing to ensure accurate reporting is imperative.”
During the session, Dr. Mobereola addressed various industry issues, including debt recovery efforts through contracted organizations and a strategic alliance with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) to address boat mishaps.
Speaking further, he stated, “Plans on going to ensure job placement for Nigerian cadets and graduates with the status of the CVFF funds under review of the NIMASA Act of 2007, which aims to regulate all maritime infrastructures.”
Dr. Mobereola pledged to enhance media relations, including training and payment for media practitioners, as outlined in the 2024 budget.
However, by fostering a collaborative partnership with the press, Dr. Mobereola seeks to promote accurate reporting, transparency, and accountability in the maritime industry.
