The newly redeployed Customs Area Controller, Onne Customs Comms, Compt. Imam BABA, has officially resumed at Onne Customs Area Command; the Customs Area Controller, CAC, Compt. Imam BABA, has urged officers and men to redouble their efforts to achieve more revenue to the federal government; ensure adequate compliance with fiscal policies implementation and shun any action or inaction capable to undermine the three point agenda of the Comptroller General of Customs, Hameed Ali.
The CAC made this assertion at a brief handing over ceremony at the Command..
In his remarks, the out going CAC, Comptroller Auwal Muhammad,, said, ‘”Nigeria Customs Service, Onne port is a revenue generating command with satutuary functions of vast anti-smuggling activities, the Port also serves as an export point for goods.”
Auwal ,asserted, “Comparatively, when I took over in Sept.2020, a total revenue of N188b was generated by the command, in 2021an improved revenue of N188.6b representing over N54b increase.”
Compt. Auwal added, “With the introduction of improved revenue generation structures, the command was able to raked in a total sum of N242,090,629,309.29 in the year 2022.”
However, he attributed the fate to an aggressive operational activities, all cargoes are examined 100 per cent except where interventions became necessary.
His words: “Our ability to thoroughly examine containers have also help us prevent passage of contraband and unwholesome goods through Onne port and had lead to records of some high profile siezures.”
He called on critical stakeholders to give the new CAC the needed and maximum cooperation to achieve it’s mandate.
