CUSTOMS TIN CAN COMMAND UNCOVERS A PISTOL IN AN IMPORTED TOYOTA CAMRY

In line with it’s statutorily responsibilities aimed to generate revenue, suppress smuggling, facilitate trade and enforce national security, the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Tin Can Command has uncovered a pistol with its magazine inside a Toyota Camry at the port exit point.

This information was contained in a statement issued signed by the Command Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Uche Ejieseme and made available to GLOBAL RAYS Media.

The statement reads in part:  ” Our operatives at the five-star logistics terminal while on routine examination on the 28th day of August 2021, stumbled on a pistol with its magazine inside a Toyota camry car at the exit point.”
It contained, ” Consequently and in line with our standard operating procedure(SOP),the DSS, police and other security Agencies were invited to the scene.”
It added, “Thereafter the exhibit was taken to the customs Enforcement unit for safe custody pending a formal report to customs headquarters for further directives.”
However, asserted, ” We are using this opportunity to once again advise importers and or their agents to desist from getting involved with such offensive imports particularly items like this on the list of Absolute prohition in view of the dire consequence.”

The statement affirmed,  “The Customs Area Controller, Compt Musa Abdullahi,  has directed immediate investigation into the incident to unravel those behind and ensure a truncation of their supply chain.”
