CUSTOMS STRIKE FORCE ZONE ‘B’ INTERCEPTS PROHIBITED ITEMS

The Nigeria Customs Service, Zone B, Strike force, Kaduna, has said, it confiscated goods with duty paid value of #139.71 Million between October and November across the zone.

This information was disclosed by the coordinator of the force, DC Aliyu Olorukoba, during a media chat with newsmen on the command activities in the last two months in Kaduna.

DC Olorukoba stated, “The items seized to include 745 bags of foreign per boiled rice, 16 Vehicles in two seizures as well as 622 bales and three sacks of second hand clothes.”

” Others were 564  by 25 litres kegs of vegetable oil, 258  cartoons of tomato paste, 208 parcels of cannabis Sativa and 121 cartons of pharmaceutical drugs.”

 

He added, ” 821 cartoons of foreign spaghetti noodles, 35 cartoons of mosquito coils and 370 by 25 litres kegs of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) were also impounded within the same period.”

He asserted, ” The seizures which is in compliance with Comptroller General matching order to stop smuggling activities within the zone.”

Speaking further, DC Olorukoba, adviced Smugglers to change for the better and start legitimate trading public.

The coordinator credited the successes recorded in the zone to the intelligence reports and the unwavering efforts of the customs personnel.

However, he assured that the unit would not relent in curtailing the activities of smugglers in the zone, appealing to media for intensify enlightenment on the dangers of smuggling.
